Final - Drivng While Distracted

We have all been there.  Driving down the road and the mobile phone rings.  Do you reach and answer it…taking your eyes off the road for only a few seconds or do you ignore the ring?  Wrongful Death Attorney Emery Brett Ledger states unconditionally that “driving while distracted” is the single most important issue keeping him awake at night.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), In 2008, 5,870 people lost their lives and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in police-reported crashes in which at least one form of driver distraction was reported on the police crash report.

There are three main types of distraction:

  • Visual — taking your eyes off the road

  • Manual — taking you hands of the wheel

  • Cognitive — taking your mind off what you’re doing

Wrongful Death Attorney Ledger says this is an epidemic.  He should know, as he is working on the largest case in U.S. history involving texting.  In 2008, a MetroLink train conductor was texting while operating a MetroLink Train.  The train failed to stop at a required red lighted intersection and collided with another train.  Twenty five people were killed and one hundred and thirty five people were injured in this nation’s deadliest train accident.  Ledger says his clients lives will be forever changed because the conductor couldn’t resist the impulse to text and thus was distracted.

It is “deadly to be distracted,” says Ledger.  Those who have been injured or killed by another negligently distracted while driving should contact Ledger at 800-300-0001 for a detailed evaluation of their matter.

Don't forget to thank your God for all that you have...so many are focused on the negatives of the financial crisis while I am truly thankful just to have my family & all my limbs. I wish everyone a happy & healthy weekend.
